THE DESIGN PROBLEM

In 2017, Consolidated Theatres was celebrating 100 years of entertaining Hawaii. Consolidated Theatres wanted to create a commemorative booklet for its customers that would capture the nostalgia of the past and honor its 100-year legacy of entertaining Hawaii, while still giving the brand a modern, 21st century feel.

THE DESIGN SOLUTION

In looking through its archives, management found issues of the “The Show Parade of All Hawaii,” a magazine Consolidated published dating back to 1939. To honor Consolidated’s storied history, we created a “Show Parade” magazine for a new generation. With a creative cover illustration of forgotten Consolidated movie houses, arresting photography, compelling editorial, and a design that balanced the past with the present, this modern take on an old magazine was a hit with local movie-lovers, young and old.
