THE DESIGN PROBLEM

With the last sugar cane harvest in Hawaii scheduled in a year, create a commemorative gift for the employees of HC&S.

THE DESIGN SOLUTION

A keepsake, a book capturing the story of how the sugar cane agriculture industry built a community of immigrants and commemorating the end of an Era. Through portraits and interviews, we captured personal life moments of the people of HC&S that went beyond work.

Printed on tactile uncoated paper with an exposed chipboard cover and wrapped with a traditional “Furoshiki” (Japanese wrapping cloth traditionally used to transport clothes, gifts). This gift represented the deep appreciation for their employees.
